The Montessori method

Kinder Paradise Montessori has built an innovative curriculum that combines two of the world’s leading approaches to education: Montessori and STEM.

Montessori teachers

Unlike in a traditional classroom, a Montessori teacher guides and observes each child’s learning, helping them explore and develop independence naturally.

Practical life

More than 100 lessons build the skills children need to care for themselves and their surroundings, fostering independence and a sense of responsibility.

Sensorial

Hands-on materials develop all five senses together – an essential foundation for intelligence and analytical thinking.

Mathematics

Beyond addition and subtraction, children meet fractions, graphs, geometry and early algebra through concrete materials, understanding ideas rather than memorising them.

Language

Children build vocabulary, practise phonics and recognise letters, laying strong foundations for reading and writing.

Science & culture

From plants to geography, from physics to festivals around the world – children broaden their knowledge and develop a global outlook from an early age.

STEM education

STEM brings together Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The Kinder Paradise STEM curriculum focuses on the environment and nature, with weekly activities such as:

  • Making and watching a rain gauge to learn about evaporation
  • Growing plants in different light conditions and extracting essential oils from flower petals
  • Discovering the diversity of the animal world, with visits to natural history museums and national parks
  • Sorting rubbish, recycling and making compost

The school also has many activity rooms, a nature area and a programme of field trips and extracurricular activities that help children consolidate what they learn and look forward to coming to school.

Physical education & traditional martial arts

Physical education: based on the American PME (Physical Montessori Education) curriculum, combining fine and gross motor skills with specialist equipment – “natural gymnastic movements” such as good posture, walking for endurance, running, jumping, lifting and balancing.

Martial arts: through traditional Vietnamese martial arts, children build strength, quick reflexes, stamina, speed and agility. Friendly sparring competitions help our “little fighters” grow in confidence, courage and sportsmanship.

Music & music appreciation

Children don’t just learn to play the organ or keyboard – they also learn about playing together, read rhythms from simple to complex and are encouraged to compose their own music. For younger children, music comes through stories and games about sounds and melodies, developing their ear, singing, sense of rhythm and confidence to perform.

Art & craft

Children explore shapes and colours, strengthen their wrists and fingers and develop a sense of three-dimensional space through:

  • Drawing: from models and on themes
  • Craft: with coloured paper, leaves and recycled materials
  • Decoration: of spaces, objects and characters
  • Sculpture: modelling with clay or pebbles
  • Applied art: a first taste of graphics, fashion and colour matching
  • Art appreciation: across many materials, with trips to museums and exhibitions
